INAUGURAL FARRELL - LUSCOMBE SHIELD
Saturday 30th July, Kuwangan Football Club played Bayside Strikers for the inaugural Farrell – Luscombe Shield. Brad Taylor and myself as the Presidents’ of each club talked about recognising two ladies, Sandy Luscombe and Pam Farrell, who have been committed to the development of football within our clubs since they were formed 12 years ago. Both of these ladies are in the midst of their own individual battle with Cancer. To show our support and recognition of their efforts we will also be raising money for two causes that they are intimate with, Hervey Bay Hospital - Oncology Dept and Cancer Research. Our clubs passed around buckets to collect donations during the junior football as well as in the evening during our senior matches. Both clubs pledged $250 and we have put the call out to the other clubs, FHB and our sponsors to match this pledge.
Kawungan Football Club won the match however the big winner was Cancer Research and Hervey Bay Hopsital, Oncology Unit with approximately $2,000 received in donations. Their is still more money to come in and once this is finalised the funds will be distributed to the beneficiaries.
If anyone would like to donate you can ring 4194 0122 or go into Bay City Engraving at Shop 7, 19 Taylor St, Pialba.
